Police: man accused of killing girlfriend is suspect in second murder
UPDATE: The Colorado Springs Police Department says it believes it knows who killed Marcus Anderson and put his body in a storage unit.
Glen Galloway, 44, was arrested while in jail Friday. Galloway was already imprisoned because police say he shot and killed his girlfriend, Janice Nam, 29, on May 30.
Galloway now faces a first-degree murder charge in Anderson’s death.
According to Sgt. Joel Kern, a police spokesman, Galloway and Anderson knew each other but the extent of their relationship is unclear.
“We still need to find people who can help us with that,” Kern said.
Kern said Anderson, apparently, was homeless and was living in the storage unit.
“We found his vehicle that was missing,” Kern said.
Kern also confirms that Anderson and Nam likely died around the same time, though the exact timeline of the alleged crimes is still being worked out.
“What we’re worried about is, with two people dead, whether Galloway may have killed someone else who we don’t know about,” Kern said. “Our detectives are looking into that possibility and investigating other crimes he may have committed.”
Anderson, 57, had last been seen on May 29. His body was found in a storage unit on N. Century Street, near N. Nevada Avenue and E. Fillmore Street, Wednesday morning.
Police said they went to the business around 5:30 a.m. to assist the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in the search for Anderson. Officers noted suspicious circumstances outside the business before finding the body.
Anderson’s death has been ruled a homicide.
This is the second time this season that authorities have found a body in a local storage unit. On April 22, Julie Tureson was found dead in a vehicle parked inside a storage unit on Platte Avenue east of Murray Boulevard. Her ex-boyfriend, James Woo, is in jail and charged with her death.
Authorities said the two cases have no connection.
