COS dad charged after leaving 1-mo-old in direct sunlight

A father was charged with child neglect after he left his 1-month-old in a stroller along a park trail on Friday.

At around 1:30 p.m., two officers were walking along Pike’s Peak Greenway Trail near Las Vegas Street and S. Sierra Madre Street when they found a crying baby in a stroller off of the trail sitting under direct sunlight.

Officers located an unresponsive man nearby, who was later identified as the baby’s father, Shawn McCullah.

Medical personnel were called to look over the baby and the father. The father became responsive as he was being examined. Neither one required additional treatment. A DHS representative took temporary custody of the infant.

McCullah was charged with child neglect and released on a summons to appear in court.
