iT’Z calls it quits; family fun center suddenly closes

A popular family fun center in Colorado Springs suddenly shut down this week. Employees say they received no notice. After eight years of family fun iT’Z is calling it quits.

“There was nothing posted, no alerts, no commercials. It’s really sad that people had to find out word of mouth,” said Caitlin Ufferman, who had been a frequent customer.

The company is packing up for good. Another location in Albuquerque shut down in April. Three locations remain open in Texas.

Former employee Brianna King said she went to work Monday, only to be turned away.

“People are excited that we’re getting a YMCA, but I’m like, at what cost? Because a lot of us just lost a job,” King said.

The YMCA recently acquired the building near Powers and South Carefree. According to the company it has been working with the Y on a transition plan. But employees say the details and timeline of that plan were kept quiet.

“It’s upsetting. A lot of people save up points, save up tickets,” Ufferman said.

Several customers told KRDO that they made birthday party reservations at iT’Z days before it closed.

“That is the family fun center. There’s really nowhere else other than Chuck E Cheeze.”

If customers have an iT’Z points card, they can e-mail the card number to refunds@itzusa.com
