Body found near Greeley connected to missing persons case

Authorities have identified a body found in a ditch near Greeley as that of a man who was reported missing last year.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office says the body of Jose Dejesus Luna, who was a Greeley resident in his 60s, was found on Thursday. Police say Luna was last seen on Nov. 30.

The Greeley Tribune reports that police had responded to a call in December requesting that offices check on the well-being of Luna at his residence after his family reported suspicious evidence and circumstances.

Police were unable to locate Luna until a farmer reported finding a body in a ditch last week. They suspect foul play in his disappearance.

A missing person and death investigation remain ongoing.
