Colorado Springs’ Mayor Reflects on First Year in Office

this month, colorado springs mayor john suthers reflects on his first year in office, and revealed his goals for “year two.” suthers thanked city council and voters for what he calls his two biggest accomplishment s… the passage of the 2-c sales tax increase to pay for a five-year street paving project. and ending a dispute with pueblo county regarding stormwater projects. today, suthers talked about what’s next on his list. “i do think you’ll see some landslide legislation out of the city council to make sure that people are appropriately aware of hazard zones, buying property in them, things like that.” suthers says he also wants to continue to ease the city’s homeless problem… and build a new, modern police substation to replace the sand creek station on the southeast side of town. he says it’ll cost between 10-million and 12-million
