Pueblo hospital holds animal funerals for grieving owners

St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo held a special service for those that have lost a pet or animal on Sunday.

The Animal Companion Remembrance Service told KRDO that the service helped provide a way for people to say goodbye to a special part of their family.

Religious leaders at St. Therese Chapel said it also helps elderly people who are dealing with grief.

“When that animal dies, it brings up all the memories, all of the losses that they’ve had before in life, and sometimes that can be numerous and very painful,” said Rev. Linda Setter with St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center.

The Chapel holds this special service twice a year.
