President’s visit snarls traffic

While the Air Force Academy graduation and the President’s visit brought excitement to the Springs, it also had the unfortunate side effect of tangling up traffic in the area.

Many drivers found themselves stuck in roadblocks to allow the President’s motorcade to travel to and from the Academy.

CDOT tried to ease congestion along Interstate 25 by suspending work on Cimarron Street and Fillmore Street Interchange projects.

“I remember something about him going to speak, but I didn’t know it was today. So that’s okay, though. Hopefully, I can get a look at the motorcade,” said Roland Williams.

“It is kind of fascinating how much goes into it, with the security,” said Kyle and Nikki Combest.

Springs police said they had hundreds of people involved in security and traffic control related to the graduation and the President’s visit.
