Blue Angels pilot killed in Tennessee crash was from Colorado
KRDO NewsChannel 13 has learned that a Blue Angels pilot who died in a crash in Tennessee was from Colorado.
A U.S. official says the pilot was identified as Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss, 32. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Kuss is from Durango, which is in the southwestern corner of the state.
The Navy says the pilot was beginning to take off during an afternoon practice session when the crash happened. Five other F/A-18 jets landed safely moments later.
The elite acrobatics team was scheduled to perform at an air show this weekend.
The Air Force says that there does not appear to be a link between today’s crashes in Tennessee and the Thunderbird crash here in Colorado.
