Tips on how to protect your home from lightning

Not only is it flooding season right now, but lightning is another concern amongst homeowners.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department is urging people to have a lightning rod properly installed as a safety precaution. It can protect your home by allowing the electricity to travel safely to the ground instead of catching the house on fire.

According to Lt. J.J. Halsey with the CSFD, you can also, “build your roof out of materials that are non-conductive.”

Surge protectors are another form of defense against lightning. They can help save your electronics from getting fried from the lightening.
