Reduced adoption fees at La Plata Co. Humane Society this weekend

The La Plata County Humane Society is celebrating their 14th annual Adopt-a-thon on June 3 and 4.

From 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. at the Humane Society, fees will be decreased to adopt adult dogs and cats. Adult cats will be $10 and adult dogs will be $50.

Last year’s Adopt-a-thon ended with the adoption of 44 cats and dogs.

“We didn’t beat our record, but most of the animals adopted out were adults or seniors, so I wasn’t disappoint in our numbers at all,” said Jonell Jones, the Marketing Coordinator at LPCHS.

Also during the event, a concession stand will be serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, drinks and snow cones. The Thrift Store with an assortment of sales will also be open during the Adopt-a-thon.

UltraSteam Professional Cleaning & Restoration Services is the premier sponsor of this event. Burgers and brats were donated by Sunnyside Farms Market. Coke products were donated by Coca-Cola in Durango.
