CSFD rescues several people from swift waters

The Colorado Springs Fire Department and other emergency responders had to rescue several people from flood waters on Tuesday.

According to the fire department, approximately 10 homeless were recovered from swift waters under the bridge at Cimino and Colorado. They had to be lifted out using a ladder.

One of the men rescued had to be transported to a local hospital for hypothermia.

An hour later, firefighters responded to Platte Avenue near Platte Place where two other cars were stalled. Drivers made it to safety. However, their cars would not start and had to be pushed and towed out of the road. Drivers in the vehicles said they tried to pass through about a foot of water when their engines stalled.
