Imperial Memorial Gardens hosts emotional ceremony

It was an emotional Memorial Day ceremony at the Imperial Memorial Gardens in Pueblo on Monday.

The ceremony honored the brave men and women that lost their lives defending our nation. It featured a memorial service, mass and the symbolic releasing of a dove.

Several members of the community showed up to pay their respects.

“Veterans, public and family come to this. Some find closure, some don’t. Some veterans have PTSD. Some people have loved ones that they didn’t get a chance to say that final goodbye. It’s significant to people like us veterans to not let them forget that and ourselves no forget that,” said Cpl. Salvadore Torres.

The touching ceremony ended with a gun salute from veterans and the traditional playing of “Taps.”
