3rd arrest made in Pueblo shooting involving deputy, officer
A man wanted in connection with an incident where a gun shot was fired at Pueblo law enforcement officers was arrested on Friday.
Joe Gaetano Romero, 36, was taken into custody after a vehicle pursuit on the west side of Pueblo.
Detectives saw Romero riding in a black vehicle in the area of Ninth and West Streets at about 3:45 p.m. Detectives attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued to drive.
Detectives followed for two blocks until Romero, who was in the front seat, jumped out and fell to the ground in the 700 block of 10 th Street. The vehicle drove off nearly striking Romero. Romero was not injured and was immediately taken into custody.
Romero was wanted on a warrant for three counts of first-degree assault on a peace officer in connection with an incident that happened on May 26 in which someone fired a shot at Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies and a Pueblo police officer in the Beulah and Northern Avenues area.
Romero was booked on the assault on a peace officer warrant along with five other outstanding felony warrants to include aggravated motor vehicle theft, trespassing, possession of a controlled substance and two warrants for identity theft.
