Police: Man spits blood in officer’s face, claims he has AIDS

A Colorado Springs man is accused of assaulting two different police officers Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to a report of a fight in the 2400 block of Lyncrest Drive, near N. Academy Boulevard and Vickers Drive on the north side, at around 4:30 p.m.

Police say that Dan Martin needed to be taken to the hospital as a result of the fight, and that on the way to the hospital he spit a large amount of blood onto an officer’s face. They say Martin told other officers that he has AIDS.

At the hospital, Martin kicked a different officer in the head while he was strapped down to a restraining bed, according to police.

Martin is facing charges relating to the original disturbance and assault on officers. He has been booked at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
