Schriever AFB back to normal operations after suspicious package caused lockdown
The Schriever Air Force Base’s operations are back to normal after a suspicious package caused it to go on lockdown.
The package was reportedly found in building 780 at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The installation east of Colorado Springs was on lockdown while the package was being investigated.
“The safety and security of our people and mission is paramount,” said Col. DeAnna Burt, 50thSpace Wing and installation commander. “We take these matters seriously and I am proud of the team’s professionalism and expertise as we contained and investigated this incident.”
At around 2 p.m., Chief of Public Affairs Jennifer Thibault announced that the lockdown had been lifted and that the packed posed no threat.
