7 arrested in Pueblo County marijuana busts

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says it busted illegal marijuana grows at homes south and west of the city last night and this morning.

A tip lead deputies to a home at the St. Charles River Estates in southern Pueblo County last night. Deputies say there were more plants in the home than what is allowed by state law.

During the first investigation, deputies say they learned that there were also illegal grows at four homes in Pueblo West.

A total of seven people were arrested. They have been identified as Orestes Noy Morejon, 33; Virgilio Miranda, 63; Alejandro Rubio Farray, 37; Mario Miranda Sr., 64; Mario Daniel Miranda Jr., 43; Mavy Miranda Alonso, 37 and Alfredo Hernandez, 45. All seven, who relocated to Colorado from Florida, face charges for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana.

In the past two months, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 33 people in connection with illegal marijuana grows found in Pueblo County homes. Of those arrested, 25 people have ties to Florida.

Since March 14, the Sheriff’s Office has made illegal grow busts at 23 homes and has confiscated nearly 5,400 illegal marijuana plants and hundreds of thousands of dollars in grow equipment and supplies.

The sheriff’s office says more than 200 marijuana plants were seized. The estimated combined value of the marijuana plants is $1.3 million.
