Dumpster drama at senior citizen housing
Piles of trash and overflowing dumpsters caused concern at a senior housing center in Colorado Springs. Several viewers have complained to KRDO about the smelly eyesore.
“It’s in the air. I can’t really even open my windows,” said Joyce Boehm, a senior citizen living at The Village at Homewood Point.
From Boehm’s balcony she could see piles of trash and overflowing dumpsters. Boehm said it’s looked like that for more than a week.
“It’s unhealthy. We’re all older residents we don’t want to get sick from anything. It upsets me, it makes me feel unhealthy. I worry about animals coming. I hate it, it’s filthy,” Boehm said.
The recycling company is supposed to come to the apartments three times a week. Boehm said they haven’t showed up.
The only reason the trash company wouldn’t come is because they haven’t been paid by their customer. The apartment manager wouldn’t comment to KRDO.
The management company contacted KRDO’s newsroom and said there was a miscommunication with the bill. They said the trash has now been taken care of.
