Car crashes into Canon City home, sparks fire

Authorities say a vehicle has crashed into an occupied home in Canon City, causing both the home and the car to erupt in flames.

The Colorado State Patrol says the driver, 21-year-old Kyle Taylor, and a resident were taken to a hospital and released with minor injuries after the Sunday incident. Taylor has been cited for careless driving causing bodily injury.

Authorities say the driver had failed to negotiate a curve in the road before he crashed into the home. Fire officials discovered that the vehicle had hit the home’s gas line, which ignited the flames.

The home sustained significant damage from the impact of the car and minor damage from the fire.

The incident remains under investigation.
