Aurora police shoot man who ran from traffic stop
AURORA, Colo. (AP) – Police are investigating the shooting of a man who ran from officers during a traffic stop in Aurora.
Police spokeswoman Crystal McCoy said the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an officer fired at him Sunday night when he “produced a handgun” during the chase.
Police plan to provide more details about the shooting at a press conference Tuesday afternoon after the officer is interviewed.
According to Fox 31, the incident happened on East Evans Avenue near South Blackhawk Street.
It’s the fourth officer involved shooting involving the department this month.
Last week, police shot and killed a carjacking suspect and also wounded a shooting suspect in Denver. On May 1, police shot a homeless man in the wrist after reports that he had shown a weapon to employees at a McDonald’s. It turned out to be a replica of a gun.
