Home with history of crime condemned

A Pueblo house that has been the source of problems for police and neighbors has been condemned.

The home is on the 1200 block of N. La Crosse in Pueblo’s East Side.

Police responded to a domestic violence call at about 1 p.m. Thursday. They arrested 26-year-old Travis Elifritz. He is accused of domestic violence assault.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 was at the home this month with federal agents and officers as they found evidence of a recent shooting and heroin.

City code enforcement declared the home unlivable after finding trash and no utilities.

Police said they have responded to several calls at the home ranging from drug activity to drive-by shootings.

William Morris, who lives in the area, said he’s happy to see the home condemned.

“I’m so glad from not coming home from work and having to duck and dodge bullets and having to go to ground every night,” he said.

Police will be patrolling the area.

Officers said the landlord recently started the process of evicting the people who were renting the home.
