Police warn of robbers targeting small business owners after hours

The Colorado Springs Police Department says robbers are following small business owners home from work and robbing them.

Three incidents have been reported since April 22. All three attacks happened between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. in the southeast part of the city.

Police say two of the victims were robbed inside their garages before they could close their garage doors. The third was robbed after answering the front door shortly after arriving home.

The robbers have been armed with handguns in all three cases, but no injuries have been reported.

Police are asking business owners to be especially vigilant and to watch for unusual activity around their stores and restaurants.

If you have any information about these crimes, you are asked to call 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).
