Marksheffel to close for 3.5 miles
you’re driving in eastern el paso county, you may run into some delays this morning. crews are working on a major construction project. and marksheffel road will close from the north- east gate of peterson air force base to drenna road. krdo newschannel 13’s dana molina is live in that area with more on what you can expect. good morning dana. good morning dana and jon. crews are working to realign and rebuild marksheffel road. you’ll still have access to the peterson air force base east gate. but no traffic will be allowed on marksheffel south of the gate to drennan. you’ll see orange cones and detours in place. this project is supposed to eliminate several dangerous curves and imporve safety and capacity of the roadway. el paso county county engineers say closing traffic alltogether instead of working around it should reduce construction time by at least six months. this project is paid by the voter approves pikes peak rural transportation authority one- cent sales tax. this closure is expected to last four months. the full project is expected to be done in 2016. reporting live… in cs….dm… krdonc13. new this
