Jogger fights with attacker during attempted sexual assault

The Colorado Springs Police department says a female jogger fought with an attacker after he tried to assault her on the east side of the city.

It happened Friday (05/06/16) evening, around 5:00 pm, near S. Murray Blvd. and Dewey Drive.

Officers say the woman was approached by a male in a newer model, light blue sedan, with Oklahoma license plates.

The man got out of his car and began making sexual comments to the woman as he followed her.

Police say she declined his advances, and tried to get away, that’s when he tried to sexually assault her.

But then, she confronted and chased the suspect. The man then got back in his car, the victim confronted him at the passenger window, and he grabbed her hair and started to drive away.

The suspect drove about two blocks before the victim was able to pull away from the car.

Police say the suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his mid-to-late twenties.

The Adult Sex Crimes Unit is also investigating.
