Man killed in Academy Boulevard crash identified

The name of a man who died in a crash in Colorado Springs early this morning has been released. He was Cody Dowdall, 22.

The crash happened Friday morning on N. Academy Boulevard off of Brookwood Drive, which is just south of Woodmen Road on the north side of town.

Police said Dowdall was driving an SUV northbound on N. Academy when he lost control and rolled the vehicle.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash.

N. Academy was closed for several hours between Dublin Boulevard and Woodmen Road.

A candlelight vigil will be held to remember Dowdall tonight at 9:30 p.m. at the intersection where the crash happened.
