New cemetery to be named after America’s Mountain
A new national veterans cemetery that will be built in Colorado Springs now has a name.
After months of discussion, it will be called the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
The Veterans Administration already purchased 374 acres.
Veterans say it will mean a lot to family members of soldiers who passed away.
“Because at least now they won’t have to go up to Denver, Fort Logan. They can come here,” said cemetery committee member Paul Ardarrow.
Congress still needs to approve $36 million in the coming months to pay for the construction.
