‘May the Fourth be with’ young patients at Memorial Hospital
University of Colorado Health celebrate “Star Wars Day” with patients at Memorial Hospital.
“I was really happy. I was really excited to come here,” said Johnauthein Terry-Nunnelley, a patient.
UC Health teamed up with Sphero, the Boulder-based makers of one of the newest “Star Wars” toys, to inspire patients at Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs.
“Me and my friends usually watch Star Wars. We’ve seen all of them in order and I got to see the new star wars in the theater,” said Terry-Nunnelley.
Sphero’s BB-8 Droid is based off the character that recently made its big screen debut in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
“There’s a lot of magic in this little guy and it’s great to help kids see the magic and get them out of the room. They come play and we hope they have a better day,” said Jan Goerzen, marketing coordinator at Sphero.
Patients had the chance to control and interact with the droid with the touch of an iPad.
“I think it’s cool how their controlled off of a tablet,” said Alan Bukawski, a patient.
UCHealth chose Wednesday, May 4 as part of the Star Wars fans’ catchphrase “May the Fourth be with you.”
Sphero is based out of Boulder and sells to retailers nationwide.
