Lamborn backs Cruz, will vote for Trump

Colorado Springs Congressman Doug Lamborn, a five-term incumbent tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 he will support Donald Trump if he is the Republican presidential nominee in the fall.

The conservative Republican was at the Broadmoor Monday for a national security forum.

Lamborn, who now faces a primary challenger next month in his re-election bid, endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz. But, Lamborn is committed to supporting the Republican ticket in November.

“I will support the Republican nominee whether that’s Mr. Trump or Mr. Cruz,” Lamborn said. “I endorsed Ted Cruz, however Donald Trump is saying some important things that people need to listen to. I believe he can win a general election against Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a deeply flawed candidate.”

Lamborn will not attend the national convention in Cleveland.
