Snow falls in Pueblo, threatens tree branches

Snow fell consistently through the morning and afternoon on Friday in Pueblo. The roads stayed mostly wet without ice or snow-pack.

The city did decide early in the afternoon to send out plows to concentrate on bridges and keep them from accumulating snow.

The heavy and wet snow did threaten tree branches around town. Tree service companies around Pueblo were busy removing fallen tree branches from people’s yards.

Experts recommend that homeowners shake the tree branches so they do not break off and damage the tree.

If someone see a tree fall in the city’s right of way, the city Public Information Officer says to call the public works department.

“Well, they should call our streets department, our public works department here at the city of Pueblo, if it’s in a city right of way, a place that is maintained by the city, they can call us. However, if that branch falls on their own property, they are responsible for it themselves,” said Debra Hill, the Pueblo Public Information Officer.

The city is prepared to dispatch the plows if the wet streets start to freeze, they will put out salt and sand.
