Lawsuit filed against Pueblo marijuana petition

A new development is made in the fight to get rid of recreational marijuana in Pueblo County. A lawsuit was filed Thursday against the petition that is trying to ban recreational marijuana.

The lawsuit was filed to stop the petition that is being circulated to ban recreational marijuana.

Pueblo voters approved Amendment 64 for Colorado, but the petition could give the county a chance to decide individually.

The attorney for Citizens For A Healthy Pueblo, who filed the original petition, says they were expecting a law suit but it came too early in the process.

“It comes way too early before we’ve even turned our signatures into the clerk, our petition into the clerk, so it was really a confusing filing,” said Daniel Oldenburg, the Citizens For A Healthy Pueblo attorney.

The pro marijuana group, Growing Pueblo’s Future, supports this lawsuit and says if the petition continues it threatens jobs and economic benefits in the county.
