Petition to overturn Springs cannabis club closure misses deadline

A petition to overturn the closure of cannabis clubs in Colorado Springs will not proceed after organizers did not collect enough signatures by Thursday’s deadline, according to the city clerk.

The city said the People’s Social Alliance, the group gathering signatures, failed to submit the required signatures by Thursday’s deadline.

The group needed 15 percent of the total ballots cast in the last Mayoral Run-off election (May 19, 2015), or 14,649 valid signatures.

Organizers told KRDO Newschannel 13, there were more than 5,000 signatures collected.

We will update this story as we get more information.
