Air pollution report card released

An annual report card on air quality says the Front Range from Colorado Springs to Greeley and Fort Collins gets a failing grade on ozone pollution.

The American Lung Association rankings released Wednesday say eight Western Slope counties did a little better, with grades ranging from B to F.

The report card listed the Denver metro area as the eighth-worst city in the nation for ozone.

The group rated only 18 of Colorado’s 64 counties on ozone. Data was incomplete or unavailable for the others.

Colorado fares better on particulate pollution. The group gave 13 Colorado counties an A, B or C but gave Denver a D. The other counties weren’t graded.

State air pollution officials didn’t immediately return a call.
