Free joints on 420 in Colorado Springs
Pot leaves and green flags wave high on the unofficial marijuana holiday called 420.
In Colorado Springs people were also using 420 as a way to fight a new city law passed by city council.
People who helped clean up the west side of the city got a free marijuana joint from The Pothole, a cannabis club.
The owners of the club are hopeful that their community service event will show city council the positive impacts pot clubs can have.
Artists, cooks, DJ’s and even masseuse’s brought the idea of “420” to a higher level on Wednesday. Cannabis infused massages, special infused barbecue sauce and music could all be found at The Pothole.
Organizers prepared nearly 1,000 joints to pass out for free.
“For everyone who comes up and helps us clean, just bring back a bag of trash and we’re giving them a free joint,” said Gabriel Pieper, co owner of The Pothole.
Pieper said they’re using the unofficial holiday to prove that cannabis clubs can be a good thing.
“People come here every day because they don’t have anywhere to smoke. They don’t want to break the law,” said Steve Pacheco, co owner of the Pothole.
A lot of those people could be found signing a petition to fight the recent ban on cannabis clubs. City council voted that all clubs in the city will have to close within eight years.
“To move backwards instead of forward is really disappointing,” said Pieper
Cannabis clubs are trying to collect 15,000 signatures by Thursday to save pot clubs and fight the ban.
