Stinky situation; Postal shop smells of marijuana

The owner of a small postal shop in Colorado Springs says the pot club next door is driving his customers away.

As KRDO NewsChannel13 found out, it’s not a problem you can see but one you can smell.

“Just smelling it when I walked in, I was like jeez!” said Amy Williams, a customer at Rockrimmon Postal Service.

“It definitely smells like the scent of marijuana,” said another customer, Bradley Guye.

“I’ve had people tell me that they don’t come here because it smells like weed,” said a postal shop employee, Devyn Loines.

The owner of the post office, Ron Smits, says the smell of marijuana is keeping customers away.

Smits says sales have gone down 10 percent.

“Last thing we need is a drug sniffing dog at the airport, smelling a package. Then, they open it and it smells because it came from Rockrimmon Postal Services,” said Smits.

“We’re trying to accommodate him the best we can. We’re waiting for a permit to build a wall that would get rid of all the smells in his place. I think Ron doesn’t like cannabis and for that fact, he’s harping on it,” said Anthony Robinson, owner of My Club 420.

For now it’s business as usual, smells and all. Smits said the property landlord is looking into the situation.
