Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office: Neighborhood watch groups help in busting illegal pot grows

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says neighborhood watch groups have been a big help with the recent illegal marijuana grow busts.

The sheriff’s office had its monthly Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting in Pueblo West Tuesday night.

A sheriff’s lieutenant said five of the eight marijuana grow busts happened because members of the neighborhood watch groups sent in tips.

Herman Arellano, who is part of a neighborhood watch group, said he is happy to clear Pueblo West of crime.

“It’s an enriching thing because you’re not just helping yourself and your family, but you’re helping your neighbors and other people,” he said.

There are 32 neighborhood watch groups in Pueblo West.
