Pueblo County family loses home to fire

A family is without its home after a fire ignited by a malfunctioned hot water heater Tuesday.

The Pueblo County Emergency Services Bureau said.

The fire happened in the Wild Horse area, which is between Pueblo West and Pueblo.

Firefighters said the fire started at about 1:30 p.m.

The flames also damaged a power line that had to be repaired.

One of the concerns for firefighters when battling the flames in that part of the county is the lack of fire hydrants.

“You get a fire truck here and they put out 500 gallons of water in a minute and they are out of water so the biggest concern is getting water to this area,” Bureau Chief Mark Mears said.

Tori Hamilton, who lives nearby, said she is related to the people who lost their mobile home. She said she called 911 as soon as she saw the flames.

No one was injured in the fire.
