Colorado Springs tax prep agencies seeing last-minute scramble to file
Thanks to a holiday quirk, the deadline to file your taxes is today.
Normally, that deadline is April 15th, which was Friday, but the deadline was delayed because of Emancipation Day.
That holiday shut down Washington, D.C. and bumped Tax Day back three days.
Tax prep agencies say they’re seeing plenty of people scrambling to file their taxes last-minute.
“The biggest thing right now is to bring everything if they want to get a tax return in the office. All your income documents, documents from the bank, documents if you own a house things like that… Because you’ve got to finish it today to send it in,” said Tom Baltuskonis, franchise owner of Jackson-Hewitt in Colorado Springs.
Baltuskonis also adds that all Jackson-Hewitt locations are scheduled to be open until 7 tonight, but they will keep their doors open as long as people come in to the office.
