New name for water treatment plant

The largest and most complex water treatment plant for the southern delivery system has a brand new name. The new plant held a naming ceremony, where they branded the plant The Edward W. Bailey Water Treatment Plant.

Ed Baily’s career with Colorado Springs utilities helped lay the foundation for SDS. He helped ensure that the people of Colorado Springs have had a clean water supply for decades. Bailey is largely credited with driving the SDS Project for the past 20-years.

The $125-million facility is expected to be built $160-million under budget. The plant sits along Mark Scheffel Rd., between Highway 24 and 94.
