Fire burning on Fort Carson

A wildfire is burning on Fort Carson.

Fort Carson says the fire is burning on a training range on the south end of the post.

The Fort Carson Fire Department, The Colorado Springs Fire Department, El Paso County Wildland Fire and the Fountain Fire Department are working together to put this fire out.

The fire has burned 700 acres and is 70% contained. Chinook helicopters with Bambi buckets are dropping water on the fire.

Fort Carson doesn’t plan to provide another update until 8 a.m. Friday.

There is no risk to structures or people.

Most of Southern Colorado, including Fort Carson, is under a red flag warning until 7 p.m. This means that the fire danger is high and extra precautions should be taken.
