Arrest made in 2010 disappearance of Southern Colorado man

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says an arrest has been made in the 2010 disappearance of a Crowley County man.

David Kirk, 43, was arrested in Swink Wednesday. He faces a second degree murder charge in the death of his uncle, Richard Kirk, who would now be 67.

Richard Kirk lived in Crowley County and was reported missing by his family in January 2010.

David Kirk was arrested after CBI agents obtained a search warrant based on new information in the case. The warrant was executed in the 400 block of Powars Avenue in Swink Wednesday. CBI says several people were interviewed before David Kirk was taken into custody.

Swink is located off of Highway 50 in Otero County about four miles west of La Junta.

CBI says it cannot release additional details at this time because the investigation is still active.
