School holds Suicide Prevention Week

Mesa Ridge High School is holding a Suicide Prevention Week in their school. The awareness week comes after the loss of two of their students to suicide earlier this year. The school handed out purple ribbons for students to wear in recognition of the awareness week.

Scott Sage, the Assistant Principal of Mesa Ridge, mentioned the loss of both student, ” We’ve lost two students in the course of three weeks. Two isolated incidents, very devastating to our school and community.”

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. the school will hold a Suicide Awareness meeting. They will discuss the warning signs, how to ask about suicide, community resources, and what to do if someone is suicidal.
