Threat at Civa Charter School
threat rattles nerves at a colorado springs charter school. a facebook post by a student drew major concerns from parents at civa charter school. that’s near i-25 and garden of the gods. and some of those parents tonight say they’re not happy with the response. krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller getting answers.. for your safety. james, this is one of several threats the student posted on facebook. it’s a picture inside a gunstore saying he’s shopping for his killing spree. civa went into a heightened lockdown – meaning no viistors and no one could leave. but a parent wished she knew what was happening a lot sooner. when tracy dufton dropped her kid off at civa charter school, she didn’t know another student, made threats. 0:49 i got a call at about 2, from a friend of a child who goes to civa, saying that i needed to go get my daughter. that’s when she saw them. 1:50 panic, sheer panic, i was shaking . killing, killing, killing. i love killing. who should i kill? any volunteers? another post read i’m a dangerous psychopath out with an unquenched bloodthirst. he even made a threat against the president. dufton didn’t find out about the threat until this afternoon. but school leaders say they knew about it sunday morning. she’s not happy… saying she did get an automated phone call … until tonight. 2:18 we should’ve got that call first thing in the morning. standup at civa: administrators responded saying there was no threat to students here at civa when they came to school. 4:30 the seriousness of the concern was not fully there yesterday, so when we entered school this morning, there was not the level of threat that we currently have. but at least one parent 3:41 if there was a threat at all, in general, i think there should have put something out to the general public to let us parents know. says more needs to be done. civa wouldn’t say if the student was suspended, but did say they would not return for the foreseeable future. the schools aid classes will resume as normal tomorrow. in studio, greg miller, krdo newschannel
