Man questioned in duplex fire in Lakewood

Police say a man has been taken into custody in Aurora to be questioned in connection with a fire at a duplex in Lakewood.

All 14 people who were in the two homes were able to escape the fire that broke out Thursday morning.

It’s not clear how it started. Photos from the West Metro Fire District indicate the fire spread from a car parked in the driveway to the building’s roof.

While the sound of an explosion was reported, firefighters say no device was found at the scene and that the sound was likely the sound of the car’s tires popping in the heat.
