Pueblo City Council approves airport study funds
The Pueblo City Council approved a more than $500,000 agreement to look into expanding the Pueblo Memorial Airport.
The money is coming from the city’s job recruitment tax fund to continue a contract with Doss Aviation that would expand or add another runway.
Council President Steve Nawrocki asked the other councilors to support this because of the potential $1 billion contract.
“Not only is it important from a jobs perspective and economic development, it’s also important for the viability of our airport as an airport with an FAA control tower,” said Councilman Chris Nicoll.
Doss Aviation uses the Pueblo Memorial Airport for flight screenings for aspiring Air Force pilots.
If Doss Aviation decides not to renew the contract with Pueblo, the airport layout study will still be completed with future plans in mind.
