Heavy snow pounds Cripple Creek

While most of Southern Colorado saw light snow accumulations, some parts of Teller County saw more than half a foot of snow.

Cripple Creek is a town known for its big winners, but Monday the town itself was the big winner in the snow game.

From the scenic overlook on Colorado Highway 67, the city looked like a winter wonderland.

While other communities in the county saw only dustings of snow, one KRDO viewer reported more than 8 inches in Cripple Creek.

For one person that KRDO talked to the snow was an inconvenience, but the moisture is welcome.

“This is going to help a lot. We were really dry up here in the mountains. We need one more of these,” said Tom Pliszka of Colorado Springs.

We found a local resident who was clearing off the snow with an ATV and he said that this was one of the biggest storms that the city had seen so far this season.
