Trump, Cruz supporters disappointed by Trump’s absence at convention
With their candidate center stage at the Colorado GOP State Convention, Ted Cruz supporters were ecstatic to see their guy in person.
“I’m about to wet my drawers,” state delegate and Cruz supporter Jeanne Rush said.
“I wore the Cruz pin today and it’s more to show my negativity on Trump,” Cruz supporter Tom Antkow said.
Addressing thousands on the floor, the Texas senator said he has the momentum and organization in what he calls a two-person race to the nomination.
“In three weeks, in 10 elections in a row, we have beaten Donald Trump. “I very much hope later today to be able to modify that statement to say in 11 elections in a row we have beaten Donald Trump.”
Some Trump supporters are disappointed the candidate did not make a personal appearance at the convention, others are okay with the frontrunner skipping the event.
“He has better business to do in New York where there are more delegates to pick up,” Trump supporter Pete Will said.
“I’m disappointed he’s not here today,” Antkow said. “A lot of people feel the same way I do. It’s better to be here in person than to see him on television.”
