Spring triggers street construction across Colorado Springs

As warm weather starts to move in, construction on the streets of Colorado Springs is stepping up.

Road construction projects have started impacting traffic on some streets, with more delays expected to start Friday.

A project on Woodmen Road between Powers Boulevard and Lexington Drive kicks off Friday. Woodmen Road will get a fresh coat of concrete to fix numerous potholes scattered up and down the road. The money for the project was generated from ballot measure 2C, a sales tax increase approved by voters to fix potholes.

Several separate projects on Powers Boulevard between Platte Avenue and Fountain Boulevard will cause nightly lane closures starting Sunday.

Northbound I-25 will be closed between South Nevada Avenue and Cimarron Street Saturday night into Sunday morning.

There continues to be work on the Fillmore and I-25 interchange that causes some traffic slowdowns during the morning and evening commutes.
