Wildfire south of Pueblo 100% contained

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says a wildfire that flared up south of Pueblo Tuesday is now contained.

The fire burned off of Verde Road.

Strong winds fueled the flames Tuesday night. The winds have since calmed down.

No buildings were threatened.

The fire has burned about 20 acres and is 100-percent contained.

Pueblo County Emergency Management says the fire started when high winds kicked up embers from a prescribed burn that happened earlier in the week.
