USS Colorado crew members visit Springs students

The executive officer and three crew members of a new nuclear submarine talked to students at Pikes Peak Prep Charter School Wednesday.

Crew members must undergo rigorous training and education to work on the nuclear submarine. “A lot of it is to inform about subs, the navy, ask questions, engage and encourage them in their studies,” said LCDR Steve Col.

The USS Colorado is currently under construction in Connecticut. It is expected to join the fleet early next year. This will be the fourth US Navy vessel with the name Colorado.
