Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity celebrates 30 years

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 30 years of service this month.

To commemorate it, the organization launched a 30×30 campaign. It’s meant to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing in El Paso County and to invite the community to get involved.

The campaign highlights how much $30 can do – from buying a faucet, to light bulbs, to a box of shingles.

Habitat has built 138 homes in the last 30 years, one of them was Elizabeth Berryman’s house. She moved in last December, right before Christmas.

“It was really great,” she said. “It was really great. We were in the house in time to put up a tree.”

Berryman’s home is one of 34 Habitat is building in a Fountain neighborhood. It’s dedicating the newest one – number 139 in its 30 years – Saturday.
