Candlelight vigil for Denver Wolf

Friends and family gathered Sunday night for an emotional candlelight vigil in honor of Denver Wolf.

16-year-old Wolf was from Colorado Springs. Wolf was shot to death by her father last weekend.

Wolf was a junior at Air Academy High School, she lived with her mother in Colorado Springs.

A memorial service for Denver Wolf was also held on Sunday afternoon, at the Cottonwood Center for the Arts, an establishment Denver was very involved in.

Ascension Lutheran Church, Christ the King Lutheran Church, First Lutheran Church, and Grace Lutheran Church hosted the community vigil and prayer service for Wolf on Sunday. It took place at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

District 20 says grief counselors were made available to students at Air Academy High as well as the junior high that she attended. Wolf was found shot to death in Larimer County.

The coroner’s office says she was shot three times in the chest.

Wolf’s father, Robert Wolf, 52, later took his own life.

The Larimer County coroner’s office told the Fort Collins Coloradoan that Robert Wolf, who lived in the Denver area, left “seven, eight, nine pages” of obsessive notes documenting the shooting.

The writings say that after killing his daughter in Park County at around 3 p.m. Sunday, he drove her body to a property he owns northwest of Fort Collins. He shot himself in the chest at around 2 a.m. Monday. Their bodies were found in his vehicle.

The district sent the following note to parents on Tuesday:

Dear Kadet Community:

Our school has endured a tragic loss of one of our students to domestic violence. We are honoring the family’s request for privacy and so we are unable to share further details. However, please know that we will have a crisis counseling team on hand at our school for as long as needed. Please remember that young adults deal with grief in a variety of ways and please urge any student who may be struggling with this tragedy to seek help from a counselor or any adult.

Sincerely,

Dan Olson, principal Air Academy High School
